SIAMS
SIAMS – The Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools
SIAMS stands for the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools. It is the Church of England’s inspection process for its schools and looks specifically at how well a school’s Christian vision and values shape its life, culture, and educational provision. Unlike Ofsted, which focuses on academic standards, SIAMS evaluates how the school’s Christian character helps all children and adults to flourish.
A SIAMS inspection explores areas such as:
- How the school’s Christian vision guides daily life and decision‑making
- The impact of collective worship
- The quality of Religious Education (in VA schools)
- How the school nurtures pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development
Inspections usually take place every five years and help ensure that Church schools remain inclusive, caring communities where every child is valued and supported to thrive.
