January 2021 Lockdown
We have over 50% of children in school who meet the criteria for being in school.
In order to provide high quality home learning and school based learning, I have asked teachers to focus on the core subjects for both school based and home learners.
Steph Harvey is providing a weekly challenge for home learners which has a focus on the wider curriculum, and is linked to the Collective Worship provided by our Minister for Cranbrook – Rev Nev. https://www.stmartinscranbrook.devon.sch.uk/collective-worship/
We are providing remote learning using a blend of videos shared via class dojo or a google site link for younger children, and google classroom for Key Stage 2 children.
Home Learning In More Detail
- Little Parrots – Staff are maintaining provision for all nursery children as required. The home learning provision is available on class dojo and provides a range of activities and stories to engage our youngest learners.
- Reception Classes will be providing daily phonics, Communication and Language and maths videos provided by Mrs Turl, Mrs Luff-Lee and Mrs Downing. These will be consistent with the learning happening in school.
The videos are designed to support parents supporting their child’s learning while at home. Staff are also making regular phone calls to parents to provide learning support.
Children will have had a home learning pack provided – see below.
- Years 1 and 2 receive a blend of phonics, grammar, reading and writing videos in addition to maths lessons, again in line with the teaching happening in school.
- Key Stage 2 will receive daily maths, spelling, grammar, reading and writing videos – in line with what the children in school are receiving.
All Key Stage 2 children have been provided with a class reading book and maths support materials which have been hand delivered.
Across Key Stage 1 and 2, staff are holding weekly Google Meets between class and home.
In Years 5 and 6, staff are providing an additional google meet solely for home learners once a week.
